Refund policy

Last updated 22 July 2026

The short version: within 14 days of your first purchase you can get everything you paid back — we deduct only the metered AI you actually used, usually cents. You can do it yourself in the app, no email required.

The 14-day guarantee

If House Brownie isn't for you, a household owner can request a refund from Settings → Plan & credits within 14 days of the household's first purchase. The refund covers everything the household has paid — the plan and any voice credit top-ups — minus the metered AI usage the household actually consumed (voice transcription and parsing billed against credits, including the included intro credit). Unused credit always comes back in full: we don't keep money for services never rendered.

The guarantee applies once per household, to the first purchase. Refunds are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, back to the original payment method — this usually takes a few business days once approved. When the refund is processed, the household is frozen: the plan ends, any remaining voice credits are removed, and connected AI access is disconnected — but everything inside is kept safe. You can reactivate any time and pick up exactly where you left off, or permanently delete the household (and everything in it) yourself from the frozen screen. Frozen households that stay dormant are eventually deleted under our data-retention policy.

What "AI you actually used" means

Managed voice runs on prepaid credits and is billed at our AI provider's cost plus 15% — our only margin, and it's never hidden. Every call is metered to the cent in a ledger your household can see. The refund deduction is exactly that ledger's consumed total — nothing estimated, nothing rounded against you. If you brought your own API key (BYOK), that usage costs us nothing and nothing is deducted for it.

Your statutory rights

Purchases are made through Paddle, the merchant of record. Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights, including EU/EEA and UK consumer withdrawal rights, which are handled under Paddle's Buyer Terms. This page describes a commercial guarantee we offer on top of those rights.

After the window

Past 14 days, there's nothing you need to do — the yearly plan never auto-renews, so everything keeps working until the end of the paid year and there are no further charges, ever, unless you choose to renew. If something went genuinely wrong on our side, write to us and we'll sort it out like humans.
